Nominations for Santa Paula’s popular people, businesses and buildings have are due by Monday, November 14. This year’s chair of the Selection Committee will be Xavier Montez, Citizen of the Year for 2004. Committee members are comprised of past recipients.The nominee for Citizen of the Year should be a notable for public service, volunteerism, and dedication to a cause or causes over an extended period of time. The type of service provided is considered to be selfless, quiet and deliberate and without regard to recognition or honor but for the greater good.The nominee has typically been a resident of the community, but a deserving candidate who has exemplified the characteristics described above could also be considered if the committee deems it appropriate.The nominees for Business of the Year should be businesses who exemplify good business practices, show commitment and investment in the community complimented by honorable dealings with employees and customers.
