It was a fairy tale evening for Liliana Gonsalez who celebrated her 15th birthday on July 19. Her “Quince Años” was celebrated in the traditional Mexican custom as her mother had celebrated her “Quince Años” in Mexico. Liliana is the daughter of Francisco and Leticia Gonsalez, formerly of Santa Paula. At Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Santa Clarita, the mass was performed by a friend of the family. A group of 13 mariachis, flown in from Guadalajara, Mexico, performed the hymns and serenaded Liliana. The dinner and dance was held at The Odyssey Restaurant in Granada Hills. Attending were Liliana’s brother Joey, sister Kimberly, and approximately 250 family and friends, flown in from Mexico and as far away as Chicago, Illinois and New York, New York. Special guests were Liliana’s maternal grandparents, Bonifacio and Maria Cervantes, and her paternal grandparents, Jose Antonio and Elisa Gonsalez. Her godparents are Fernando Schiantarelle and Amelia Macchiavello.Liliana wore a beautiful beige gold Victorian style dress, which she designed, and a lovely tiara headpiece. The highlight of the evening was when she walked into the Odyssey banquet room dressed in her charro outfit, which was especially made for her in Mexico.
Liliana graduated from Saint Sebastian School in Santa Paula, where she was valedictorian of her class, attended St. Augustine Academy, and will be a sophomore at Valencia High School in Valencia this fall. Her aspiration at this time is to attend a university and pursue a career in law.
