Five free crape myrtle trees will be given to each person who joins The National Arbor Day Foundation during January 2005. The free trees are part of the nonprofit foundation’s Trees for America campaign.“Crape myrtle’s were selected for this campaign because of their elegant color and form, making them an attractive addition to the home landscape,” said John Rosen, the Foundation’s president. “These small flowering trees boast perfect, six-petaled flowers of pink and red, with leaves that change from summer green to autumn red, orange and yellow.”The trees will be shipped postpaid at the right time for planting between February 1 and May 31 with enclosed planting instructions. The six to twelve inch trees are guaranteed to grow, or they will be replaced free of charge.
