Cardinal wrestlers do well in non-league meet

The Cardinal wrestling team Hosted Buena High School last week and came away with mixed results. The Santa Paula JV squad took a 27-3 win and the Cardinal varsity lost 46-27.JV results: Nicole Harvey, at 132-pounds, pinned her opponent in the first period. Nianna Morris, wrestling at 147-pounds, also won with a first period pin. At 189-pounds, Jonnathan Alvarado lost his match. Jesse Ornelas, in the heavyweight division, won his match 7-3. Harvey and Morris wrestled for a second time, both won by pinning their opponents.Varsity results: At 105-pounds, Vincent Morales pinned his opponent in the first period. Walter Henriquez, at 114-pounds, won with a pin in the second period. At 121-pounds, David Prado won by a 7-4 decision. Phillip Brooks, 132-pounds, lost when he was pinned in the second period. Raul Rodriguez, 137-pounds, lost a 13-4 decision. Jason Owens, 142-pounds, lost when pinned in the second period. Damian Henthorn, 147-pounds, pinned his opponent in the first round. Chris Reyes, 154-pounds, was pinned in the second period. Ramiro De Jesus won by forfeit. Justin Smith, 173-pounds lost a 10-1 decision. Guillermo Ojeda lost on overtime 6-4. Mike Gomez, 217-pounds, lost with a first round pin, as did Joseph Skeels in the heavyweight division.
