JV boys win two contests this week

The JV Cardinal baseball team recorded two wins this week. The boys won their first league contest over Santa Clara 16-6 and then beat Glendale 10-8 in a Southern California Tournament make-up game.The win over the Saints was Jeremy Prado’s second victory on the mound.At the plate Carlos Caston went 2-3 with two runs scored, three RBIs and three stolen bases. Nester Nunez was also 2-3 for the day with three runs and one RBI. Hugo Guevara was 2-4 with an RBI and one run scored.Guevara got the win in Friday’s game, pitching five innings. Andrew Burboa came in for the save.
Matt Phillips went 2-4 with two runs, one RBI and one walk. Burboa was 0-3 with two RBIs, two walks and two runs. Guevara was 1-4 with an RBI. Nunez went 1-3, including one walk, one hit and one run. Austin Rodriguez went 2-3 with an RBI. Prado went 2-4 with two RBIs. Adam Certa was 2-3 for the day with an RBI and Joey Arredondo went 1-2, had two walks and two runs.The JV plays Oaks Christian in a home contest this afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
