JV football has bad day in Montebello

JV meets Hollywood this Friday afternoon

The Cardinal JV football team played hard but couldn’t overcome an older and more season team Friday. The Cards lost their game against Cantwell-Sacred Heart 36-0.Cantwell seemed to score at will for three quarters of the game. In the fourth Santa Paula had enough and stopped the Cantwell advance.The Cards got a scare in the third quarter when starting quarterback Aaron Gomez left the game limping. His injury turned out to be minor and he returned moments later to finish the game.The Santa Paula offense had over 250 yards in total offense but could not score.Freshman QB Gomez was 8-of-12 for 132 yards. Joey Arrendando had 5 receptions for 42 yards and Jeffrey Ontiveros had 2 receptions for 80 yards.
The defense played a solid second half led by Diego Carrillo, James Juarez, Adam Chinajki, Moises Magana, Jesse Brown, Jesse Vega and Arrendando.The JV takes on Hollywood High School this Friday back on the home field at 4:00 p.m.
