Lady Cards overtake Hueneme Vikings for win

The Lady Cardinal varsity softball team took a 5-4 win over visiting Hueneme High Wednesday. The Vikings were leading 3-0 at the top of the 5th inning. That’s when the Santa Paula bats came alive. By the bottom of the 7th the game was tied 4-4 off an RBI single from Nianna Morris and an error by the Hueneme shortstop. Lady Cardinal catcher Andrea Sliger hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 8th inning to win the game.Janessa Pulido pitched well for 5 innings and then Morris came in to pretty much shut down Hueneme for the final 3 innings.Both teams had errors but also had some great defensive plays.At the plate for the Cards Morris went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and Sliger was also 2 for 4 with an RBI and 1 run.
