Santa Paula Cardinals Junior 1 Red team wins opener 32-0

The Santa Paula Cardinals Red team beat Fillmore Silver in a National Conference game at Fillmore High School. With a strong running game and a swarming, hard-hitting defense the Cardinals dominated throughout. Running backs Mark Shide and Christopher Martinez both scored and each rushed for well over 100 yards. Quarterback Jarron Fonseca scored on a 20 yard run and managed the offense well. Wide out Rammy Montano score on a 40 yard end around play and executed some crucial down field blocks to help spring Martinez and Shide. Mark Anaya was the top offensive lineman with help from Phillip Arellano, Cory Peck, Reece McCalister and Diego Hinojosa.The Cardinals defense was lead by a dominating team effort. Leading the charge were LB’s Cory Peck, Diego Hinojosa and DE Reece McCalister. Daniel Kohr and Christopher Martinez made some great hits while Jorge Ceballos, Mark and Matthew Shide, Mark Anaya, Xavier Bagdazian, John Shaneyfelt, Rammy Montano and Jarron Fonseca all played solid on defense. Other team member who played were, Jasper and Jonathon Aguayo, Gerrard Coughlin, David Tubbs and Nick Valerio.
