The American Red Cross of Ventura County has announced that nominations are being accepted for the 2008 Clara Barton Awards. These awards recognize seven Ventura County women whose lives and work have had a profound impact on the well-being of their community. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 14, 2008 at 5 pm. Recipients will be honored at the Clara Barton Awards Dinner & Gala, scheduled for Saturday evening, June 7, 2008, at the Greenfield Ranch in enchanting Hidden Valley. This year’s theme, “Red Boots & Bow Ties” will be consistent with the formal country barn dances that local gentry attended some 90 years ago here in California. Ventura County Supervisor Kathy Long and District Attorney Greg Totten will again serve as the event’s honorary co-chairs. Dole Food Company and the Ventura County Star will return as the Title Sponsors. Community leaders and event sponsors will review all nominations and select the seven honorees. Nomination forms may be either downloaded and returned by mail or completed and submitted on line at www.arcventura.org. Nominations must include the name and contact information of the nominator and the nominee.
