By Peggy Kelly Santa Paula TimesThe Aviation Museum of Santa Paula knows a good thing when they see it, and they’re counting on 1,200 people who share that insight with the raffle of a classic 1947 Stinson Voyager or, if the winner prefers, $20,000 cash. Raffle tickets for the blue beauty with the gold trim are now on sale at only $100 each, and the “odds can’t be beat,” according to AMSP Board President Judy Phelps.“The odds are pretty cool - one in 60 of matching the purchase price of a ticket” through the August 3rd Early Bird drawing, with prizes ranging from eight winners of $100 each, two cash prizes of $250, and the big one of $500. The final drawing for the Stinson Voyager - valued at $25,000 - will be held September 7, and aside from the grand prize of the airplane or cash, runners-up will also be big winners: the second place prize is $5,000, third place $2,000, with seven cash prizes of $250.The Stinson 108-1 Voyager, a four-place plane, has an Franklin 6A4-150-BB, 141.82 SMOH engine and a package of Narco instruments, including the Comm 810, Nav 825, ID-825, AT-150 and AR-850.
So keep an eye out for the Aviation Museum of Santa Paula Raffle brochures with the color photo of the Stinson 180-1 Voyager. The vintage airplane, or plenty of cash, can be yours for the taking while showing support of the museum. For more information, visit the AMSP website www.amszp.org and click on “Raffle.”
