When officers responded to the convalescent hospital, located at 250 March St., just north of Main Street and east of Dean Drive, they were told by an employee that after hearing the shots they saw “a bullet had bounced into the building and into the lobby” through an open door. The bullet bounced on the floor and hit the eastside interior wall, landing just inside the lobby door.“It had probably lost a lot of velocity,” noted Juarez of the stray bullet, as the shots fired report had been about “400 to 500 yards away.” There were no reports of injuries or other stray bullets, and the incident is still being investigated.

Santa Paula Police Lieutenant Carlos Juarez said that the SPPD received a call of shots fire in the area of Cameron and Main streets at about 1:30 a.m. on August 11.“When officers responded” several residents reported that “a couple of cars” had been in the area, and that “six or seven shots” were heard in the Bahia Circle, Cameron and Main streets vicinity. “A few minutes later,” said Juarez, “an employee of Twin Pines Healthcare called and said the building had been struck by a bullet.”
