Cardinals host five-way wrestling tournament as league matches approach

The Cardinal wrestling team hosted a five-way tournament last week. Several Santa Paula wrestlers placed, but Thousand Oaks High School took first place. Buena High was second and New Jewish Community High School placed third.At 135 pounds, Chris Vandergeugten took first place. Michael Dodson placed first in the 140-pound weight division and Tyler Vandergeugten took first at 160 pounds. Marc Prado placed second at 130 pounds and Joe Camacho took second at 215 pounds. Daniel Wortman was third in the heavyweight class and Lupe Ortiz was third at 189 pounds.Chris Vanderguegten was selected as Most Valuable Player in the 135-to-152 pound division.
The Cardinal wrestlers are at Santa Clara today.
