By Peggy KellySanta Paula TimesSanta Paula Police made numerous arrests involving fights in two separate incidents, including a physical confrontation that left one man with a head injury. The incidents occurred Saturday, January 10, according to SPPD Lieutenant Troyce Reynolds. The first incident was reported as a fight, occurring at about 11 p.m. in the area of Peck Road and West Harvard Boulevard. Reynolds said that upon arrival at the scene, SPPD officers arrested three 15-year-old juveniles for assault with a deadly weapon - a knife - and criminal threats. A fourth juvenile took off on foot and fled “down the flood control channel” and escaped, Reynolds said.
The second incident occurred at approximately the same time, when SPPD officers were summoned to the 100 block of West Santa Barbara Street by a report of a fight. But when officers arrived on the scene, they were unable to locate the subjects.“Everybody was gone,” but Reynolds said officers were called again about a fight at about 11:50 p.m. Once again officers were unable to locate any subjects: “The people fighting must have gone back into a house,” Reynolds said. About 15 minutes later the SPPD was again called about combative subjects, “when they must have come out of the house again.”Officers found one man with a head injury, and arrested Praquedis Galindo, 29, of Santa Paula, on a misdemeanor warrant and assault with a deadly weapon. The victim was transported to Santa Paula Hospital for treatment of a moderate head injury.
