Santa Paula swimmers swim past Hueneme

The Cardinal swim team hosted Hueneme High School Tuesday and came away with a clean sweep. The JV girls won, 87-62. The JV boys had a 53-51 win. The Varsity girls won 91-63 and the varsity boys took an 82-48 victory.For the varsity girls, Emily Rocksvold won the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:55 and took first in the 100 backstroke at 1:28. Jessica Torres got first place in the 100 butterfly at 1:20 and won the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:47. Another double winner was Maggie Jackson. She won the 200 freestyle at 2:35 and the 1-backstroke at 1:34.The varsity boys also had some first place winners. Olaby Correa won the 200 freestyle at 2:31. Nick Rocksvold took the 100 freestyle at 57.25 and won the 100 backstroke at 1:13. Ryan Carter had a first in the 50 backstroke at 21.45. Sunny Jackson won the 200 individual medley at 2:51.
The Cardinals host Carpinteria today (Friday) at 3:00 p.m. They swim at Fillmore’s new pool on Wednesday the 18th. Their next home meet will be March 25 against St. Bonaventure. This will be the first Tri-Valley League meet of the season for the Cardinals.
