The Ventura County Coastal Association of Realtors installed its new officers and directors on January 12 and honored those who had served during 2000.

The Ventura County Coastal Association of Realtors installed its new officers and directors on January 12 and honored those who had served during 2000.The Embassy Suites Resort Hotel at Channel Islands in Oxnard was again the site of this year’s gala installation. The semi-formal event, decorated in silver and black motif, also included an opportunity for member realtors to socialize with colleagues before and after the formal part of the evening’s ceremonies.Highlight of the annual salute to the association’s leaders was the installation of Incoming President Elaine Pettersen, President-elect Karen Campbell and Treasurer Don Edwards, as well as the 2001 Board of Directors.An appropriate send-off was also extended to Outgoing President Kay Wilson-Bolton with resolutions and proclamations from Congressman Elton Gallegly’s office, the State Legislature, the Board of Supervisors and the cities of Santa Paula and Ventura.Eagerly anticipated was the announcement of the Realtor, Office Manager, and Affiliate-of-the-Year who most exemplified the high standards expected of the real estate professional. The honorees were also judged on their service and contribution to the Ventura County Coastal Association of Realtors and their community over the years.
Named Realtor-of-the-Year was Don Edwards, manager of the Ojai office of RE/MAX Gold Coast Realtors. Edwards, who has been in real estate for the past nine years, was appointed to the real estate association’s Board of Directors in 1998 and subsequently elected for a three-year term. He is also a past president of the Ojai Board of Realtors and has served on various committees for both associations. He has also been a state director of California Association of Realtors. Edwards has been a volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House and a fund raiser for the Ojai Recreation Department. He has also been an active member of Project Understanding and Friends of the Ventura River, as well as a director of Keep Sespe Wild.Selected as Office Manager-of-the-Year was Harriet Clune, who manages the two Coldwell Banker Town & Country offices in Camarillo: the Daily Drive office which has 43 agents, and the Verdugo Way office which has five agents. Clune, a real estate broker who holds the CRB designation, was elected to the association’s Board of Directors in 1998 and prior to that was a member of the Ventura Association Board of Directors. She has also been a state association director. Always active in the communities she has lived in, Clune is currently a member of Ventura Rotary-East, the Business & Professional Women’s Network and Altrusa International.Honored as Affiliate-of-the-Year was Sher Heard, a representative for First American Title. Heard has been active over the years on numerous committees for VCCAR and former associations. She has chaired the association’s “Casino Night” as well as the organization’s annual Trade Fair, and has been a volunteer for CanTree, a technology show and other special events held by the association. Heard has also been honored with a Certificate of Recognition from her employer, First American Title Company, for outstanding customer service. She is First American Title’s liaison representative with charitable organizations and the contact person for her company’s involvement with Retarded Citizens. She has also been active in assisting the American Cancer Society.The event attracted a capacity crowd that filled the Embassy Suites main ballroom. The elegant dinner meeting, with dancing following, and a heartfelt talk by Outgoing President Wilson-Bolton and an upbeat message of things to come from Incoming President Pettersen won high praise from members and guests attending.Handling the master-of-ceremonies duties was Association Executive Randy McCaslin, who kept the program upbeat and lively. Installing the 2001 officers and directors was State Senator Jack O’Connell.
