School got underway Wednesday at Santa Paula’s elementary schools, as well as Isbell Middle School. Parents and children waited for gates to open as they guided their kindergarteners to their classrooms for their first day of school. Barbara Ramirez is a kindergarten teacher at Glen City School. She started things off by leading the children in song. There was only one little girl who was in tears and didn’t want to participate.SPESD Superintendent Dr. Winston Braham said he visited all the schools this morning and everything went well. “We’ve noticed a bulge in first grade but we won’t know the totals for the schools for a while,” Braham said. He added that enrollment looks pretty much as predicted and said they are providing bus passes for students who need them.
