Samuel G. Moreno

It is with great sadness that the Moreno Family announces the passing of Samuel G. Moreno on August 16, 2010 in Escondido, CA at the age of 91. He was born in Santa Paula, CA on April 11, 1919. He was the seventh of 11 children born to Delfina and Francisco Moreno.

Uncle Sam was one of five sons who served our country during World War II. He faithfully carried out his duties in the Army Air Corps as a radio operator in the Southern Philippines.

He was an experimental machinist for 36 years with Lockheed Martin in Burbank, CA. He was proud to have worked on the development of the B-52 Stealth Bomber for the United States Military.

He was married to Delma Graber in Glendale, CA in 1961, and was lovingly by her side when she passed in 1983. He later married Gladys Orum, with whom he shared his life until her passing in 2001. Uncle Sam was a long time resident of Glendale, San Diego, and Rancho Bernardo.

Uncle Sam is survived by his brothers, Abraham, Daniel and Benjamin; half-brothers Joe and Julian; Isabel his stepsister and Librado his stepbrother; and countless nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned Thursday, August 19th at 1 p.m. at his home church, Emmanuel Faith Church in Escondido, CA. Funeral and burial services will take place on August 20th at 12:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles, CA.
