Routine patrol check leads to the arrest of four on various charges

A routine patrol check Saturday evening led to the arrest of numerous subjects - including a city resident - on suspicion of various charges, according to a Santa Paula Police spokesman.
Sergeant Cody Madison said the incident occurred August 28 at approximately 9:37 p.m. when SPPD officers “were conducing a routine patrol” to the rear of the Ocean Gateway Inn, located at 350 S. Peck Road.
“A random license plate check of a vehicle revealed that it was stolen out of the city of Bakersfield,” and officers began conducting an investigation that “determined the vehicle was associated with several subjects who were staying at the hotel.” During surveillance by officers, two of the subjects were observed leaving the hotel in another vehicle.
A traffic stop was conducted and two women, Alexandra Zambrano, 20, of Bakersfield and 20-year-old Carina Licea, of Buckeye, Arizona were contacted. After a short investigation Madison said Zambrano was arrested for suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
A search of the vehicle, prior to being towed, revealed a hidden compartment in the center console containing keys to the stolen vehicle. After further investigation Licea was also arrested for suspicion of the stolen vehicle and suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
At that point officers at the hotel conducted a search of the hotel room where the suspects were staying. Found in the room were Juan Acevado, 27 of Bakersfield and Ramiro Landeros, 21, of Santa Paula.
“Upon making contact, Acevado was found in possession of brass knuckles and,” said Madison, “also had a felony no bail warrant for violation of parole.” Upon making contact with Landeros, “He gave a false name, however he was known by officers” and was found to be in possession of a stolen 9mm handgun. Madison said Landeros also had a felony no bail warrant for failure to register a firearm.
The four were transported to Ventura County Jail.
