Thomas James Brown “Tom’s Tire”Thomas James Brown, 55, beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle, went home to be with his loved ones on Wednesday, April 4, 2001. Born in 1945 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he was a life long resident and business owner in Santa Paula.Tom first went into business April 1, 1969 at Phillips 66 on the corner of 7th and Main. In 1970 Tom and his partners, Larry Leslie and Jack Poss, purchased the Texaco station on Palm and Harvard. In 1981 Tom purchased Tom’s Tire, originally located in the Vons Shopping Center, now located at 151 N. 12th Street.He is survived by his wife Katharine Brown; sons, Tom “T.J.” and wife Paulette Brown, and Jamie and wife Michelle Brown; and daughter Chollie Brown. He had six grandchildren, Skylar, Matthew, Tyler, Kaylee, Taylor and Lindsey Brown. Tom has many brothers and sisters: Jerry and Janet Brown, Carol Headley, Lindy Brown, Larry and Debi Leslie, Jack and Judy Poss, Charles and Judy Whittaker, Mike and Landa Leslie, Greg and Connie Nard, Danny and Sherry Moraga; stepfather Hugh Johnston; and many, many nieces and nephews and their families.He was loved by many and will be missed by all.Loren James “Fritz” Kuester
Fritz Kuester, age 65, passed away at his home in Frazier Mountain Park on March 9, 2001. He was born May 26, 1935 in Menasha, Wisconsin to Laurence and Marie Kuester.He leaves his children, Jeffrey of Carlsbad, Kenneth (Audrey) of Norfolk, Virginia, Michael of Costa Mesa, and Julie (Jim) Smiley of Costa Mesa; two grandchildren; his father, Laurence Kuester of Canon City, Colorado; and his sister Janet Kuester Alley of Santa Paula, along with one nephew and two nieces.Following his graduation from Santa Paula (1954) he attended San Jose State College. As a member of the ROTC reserves he joined the U.S. Air Force and he graduated from the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of major. He was commander of a base in Norway for four years, and served in Greenland and various places in the U.S.At his request there will be no services.
