Lady Cardinal JV & varsity play in tourney

The Lady Cardinal JV and varsity basketball teams are playing in the Fillmore Tournament this week. In the first games the varsity lost to San Marcos, 41-26. The JV won their game with L.A. Baptist, 40-29.

Yesenia Mancilla had 8 pts, 2 rebounds and 7 steals for the varsity. Elissa Rico had 4 points, 4 rebounds.  Danya Zizumbo contributed with 3 points, 2 rebounds and 3 steals. “The Cardinals played good defense throughout the game,” said Head Coach Mark Blankenship.

For the JV, Kayla Stockton scored 11 points and Vanessa Chavez added 9 points. Coach Blankenship said, “Sierra Blair played extremely well, as did Kiana Arellano running the point guard slot.”
