    Matilde Diaz Martinez

    Matilde Diaz Martinez, 73, of Bakersfield, CA passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011.

    Matilde loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sitting out in the sun and watching over her garden, which she enjoyed gardening in caring and tending to her fruit trees, flowers and plants. She was a loving wife and mother who had a passion for God’s word. She was an exemplary mother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

    She is preceded in death by Manuel G. Martinez (Spouse) and Ana Maria Diaz Ferreira (Mother).

    She is survived by daughter Carolina M. Valadez- Bakersfield, CA, daughter Alicia M. Garcia- Ventura CA, son Manuel D. Martinez- Ventura, CA, son Francisco Martinez- Goodyear, AZ, daughter Sara M. Salazar- Santa Paula, CA, daughter Matilde M. Lona- Bakersfield, CA, daughter Olga M. Flores- Bakersfield, CA, Son Alberto Martinez- Cottage Grove, OR, 23 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, Brother Ignacio Diaz- Yuba City, CA, Sister Natalia Diaz Ferreira- Yuba City, CA, sister Ana Diaz Banda- Morelia, Mich., Mex.

    A visitation will be held on Friday, January 28, 2011 from 4-8pm with a Rosary at 7pm at Skillin-Carroll Chapel 738 E. Santa Paula St., Santa Paula, CA. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 427 N. Oak Sr., Santa Paula, CA
