Vernon R. Roll

(4/16/1937 - 5/25/2011)

Vernon R. Roll passed away May 25, 2011 after a courageous battle with aggressive cancer. He was born in Mott, North Dakota on April 16, 1937 to Lawrence and Eleanora Roll.

Vern met and married his first wife Lillian in Mott, North Dakota and then later they moved to Lodi, California with their three children. They then moved to Santa Paula, where their family had grown to five children. In 1973 at an early age Lillian passed away.

Vern was also a general contractor most of his life and later worked for Ruffco Construction. His lifelong hobbies were working with wood, sports, hunting and playing golf.

He spent many years coaching kids to play the games of baseball and football. He enjoyed teaching them good sportsmanship and the love of the games. In addition to working at Ruffco Construction, Vern and Pauline owned and ran VIP Beauty Supply and Salon. Later they acquired Church of the Angels Wedding Chapel, where Vern became a minister and performed wedding ceremonies. During this time he was also involved with Odd Fellows and served many pancake breakfasts to the community.

Upon retiring Vern and Pauline made the decision to travel the United States and Canada in their motor home. They spent eight happy years as full time RVers, traveling with friends exploring what the country had to offer.
