SPHS Cardinals begin football season

The Santa Paula High Cardinal JV and Varsity will scrimmage at Oxnard High School today. The JV is set to play at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity at 6:00 p.m. Next Friday, September 9 the teams travel to La Crescenta for a pre-season opener against Crescenta Valley High School. Tri-Valley League action will begin Friday, October 14 at Oak Park High School, with a contest at Carpinteria the following week.

Homecoming is October 28 and, if things go as planned, it will be played on the new SPHS field. Santa Paula ends the year November 10 at home against long-time rival Fillmore. The Cardinals  beat the Flashes last year in the 100th meeting between the two schools. The Cards finished last year with a 5-6 record and got a post-season CIF playoff game.
