Robert Davison

Robert “Bob” Davison was born on October 21, 1944 in Rancho Cucamonga to Claude and Iola Davison. During his younger years he was actively involved in the Sea Scouts and the Eagle Scouts. He graduated from Santa Paula High School in 1962.

Bob worked in the citrus industry in Santa Paula until 1973. He then came to Porterville to work at Nash De Camp Packing House in October 1974.

In the foothills to the Sequoia National Forest, he worked toward his childhood dream of becoming a firefighter. He began working with the Porterville Fire Department in 1975. He began as a volunteer and eventually became an engineer. He then worked his way up the ranks and became fire captain.

Bob dedicated 29 years to serving the community of Porterville. He loved his job and everyone he worked with. During his time at the Fire Department Bob was given his nickname “Booster.” He made many lifelong friends while working at the Fire Department, and took pride in his community.

Bob retired from the Fire Department in 2003. He then dedicated his time to his other love in life, the outdoors. He began volunteering for the Sequoia National Forest. Bob volunteered his time at the Visitor’s Center, and also volunteered his time as a camp host.

Bob spent the last years of his life living in Pismo Beach surrounded by his loved ones. Bob is survived by Erik Davison and his fiancée Lisa of Fresno, Heather Harvey and her husband Tim of Pismo Beach, Danielle Aguilar and her husband Rudie of Porterville, his stepdaughter Erin Bertoldo, his sister Nadyne Macom and her husband Norman of Santa Paula, his grandchildren Jake and Kate Harvey, Jay Davison, Reina Lowe, Kelso, Jonathan and Hannah Bertoldo, and his two great-grandchildren Ryan and Tyler Lowe.

Bob loved spending time with his family and camping. He loved the outdoors and taking trips with loved ones.

Bob was a very gentle and kindhearted man. His blue eyes and warm smile could make anyone feel at home. Bob entered death peacefully with his children by his side on November 3, 2011.

A celebration of life service was held November 18 in the garden of the Zalud House located in Porterville.

A memorial/tribute fund in the name of Robert Davison has been set up through the Alzheimer’s Organization at www.alz.org. The family is requesting that a donation to further research and cure of this disease be made in lieu of flowers.
