Tournament of Champions play begins at Richard Ruiz Field

The Santa Paula Little League Tournament of Champions is living up to its name. The Minor “A” JAZ Products A’s of Santa Paula met the Montalvo Angels at Richard Ruiz Field Tuesday. It was a hitting duel as both teams hit the ball well. The A’s came up a little short after the six inning contest, losing to the visiting Montalvo team, 17-15.Allen Gwynn was on the mound for the A’s. The Angels had 16 hits and left 12 men on base. Anthony Quintana got the win for the Angels. The A’s had 11 hits and left 11 men on base.With the win, Montalvo advanced to the winners bracket. The Santa Paula team isn’t out yet. They were scheduled to play in the losers bracket.
