Evelyn N. Ragsdale

Evelyn N. Ragsdale of Santa Paula went to be with the Lord on August 13, 2012. She passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness.

Evelyn was born, raised and became a lifelong Santa Paula resident. She was born on October 15, 1925, the third of six children, on the Thille Ranch to Brad and Letta Huckaby. Evelyn attended Briggs School and graduated from Santa Paula High School.

At the young age of 16 she began playing the organ at her church and, as time passed, she directed choirs, plays at her church, and served as youth group leader and wedding director.

Evelyn worked as a secretary at Point Mugu Naval Base. While working there she met and married the love of her life, C. H. Ragsdale in 1949.

Shortly following her marriage, she began her career in banking with Bank of America in Santa Paula. Evelyn advanced to manager in the Piru and Newbury Park branches, where she received multiple awards for her accomplishments in the banking industry. During her career, she gave birth to two daughters, Kathy and Patty.

After retiring from the bank, she went to work with Bob Russell C.P.A. There she remained active as a receptionist until she finally retired at the age of 76.

Evelyn was a part of Ebell Club of Santa Paula, where she enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow members and at times would play the piano for all occasions. In addition, she was very committed to the Foursquare Church of Santa Paula where she played the organ until her illness (70 years).

She was preceded in death by her husband C. H. Ragsdale, her parents, and all of her siblings. Evelyn is survived by her two daughters, Kathy (David) McKeever and Patty (John) Patterson; grandchildren, Chris (Dianna) McKeever, Julie (Matt) Coert, Bradly Feyma, Kelly (Chad) Allred, Nicholas (Krista) Feyma; and great grandchildren, Dennis, Brooke, Blake, Gavin, Chase, Judah, and Austin, with two more on the way.

Evelyn loved life... she loved her family... loved her church... and loved Jesus.

A visitation took place at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura, on Thursday, August 16th from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, August 17th, 10:30 a.m. at Valley Community Foursquare Church, 611 E. Main St., Santa Paula, followed by burial at Santa Paula Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home. Condolences may be left at TedMayrFuneralHome.com.
