Santa Paula Police arrested a 13-year-old boy Wednesday, suspected of stabbing another teenager on Halloween night.

SPPD Detective Ken Clark said the unidentified juvenile was arrested November 7 at about 10:46 a.m. in the 300 block of South Steckel Drive. The boy is suspected in the stabbing that was reported October 31 at 8:50 p.m. by Santa Paula Hospital Emergency Room personnel, who notified police they were treating the victim.

When officers interviewed the 16-year-old male juvenile at the hospital he told police he had been involved in a verbal and physical altercation in the 200 block of North 5th Street. During the altercation the juvenile received non-life threatening stab wounds; the victim was released from the hospital after his injuries were treated.

Clark said the victim, a resident of Santa Paula, had been outside “in the street near 5th and Santa Paula streets” when he was attacked. Friends of the victim transported him to Santa Paula Hospital.

“Eyewitnesses identified the suspect,” who Clark said police have had contact with in the past. The boy was taken to Juvenile Hall.

Clark said the motive for the stabbing attack and whether or not it was gang related would be determined by the investigation.
