The couple met at the University of South Carolina while pursuing their doctorate degrees. Nick proposed to Meg on December 27, 2012 in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Both families celebrate their children and this new chapter in their lives.

Nick Colvard, raised in Santa Paula, California and now residing in Boston, Massachusetts, is engaged to Meg Mittelstadt, who was raised in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and is now residing in Houston, Texas.
Nick is the son of Steve and Pam Colvard, and is a PhD student in Marine Biology at Northeastern University. He is the grandson of Buddy and Genelle Colvard and the late Harold and Charlotte Wallace.
Meg is the daughter of Carl and Nancy Mittelstadt, and is a postdoctoral research scientist at the Texas A&M Institute of Biosciences and Technology in Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of David and Shirley Clark, Eric and Susanne Mittelstadt and Anne Cummings.
