The Heritage Valley Tourism Bureau has a goal to bring the world to the Santa Clara River Valley, and because of these efforts the nonprofit organization was honored as the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce Member of the Quarter.

The bureau, headquartered in Fillmore, was honored at the March Good Morning Santa Paula. The Chamber-sponsored breakfast meeting was held at Garman’s Pub in the historic downtown.

Cindy Jackson, a Bureau board director, said the organization advertises “worldwide to bring tourists to the river valley,” which offers a variety of activities, things to do and places to see. The tourism bureau promotes tourism to Santa Paula, Fillmore and Piru and, said Jackson, “We appreciate your support.”

Jackson said part-time employee Kathleen McCreary operates the bureau. A well-known river valley advocate, McCreary is also the longtime marketing manager for Fillmore & Western Railway.

Jackson noted the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce website and Facebook page is generous with cross promotions, as is the Heritage Valley Tourism Bureau with their own online resources. “We really appreciate this type of support, and if the Chamber has anything to share please let us know; we’ll share anything the Chamber needs as it always shares” Heritage Valley Tourism Bureau news and activities.

“It’s all about linking,” said Chamber of Commerce President John Chamberlain. “We’re connected globally,” and the river valley has much to attract visitors from around the world.

“We have a lot of unique tourism aspects here” in the Heritage Valley that Chamberlain said run the gamut from museums and vintage trains to the airport’s antique aircraft and agri-tours, with much in between that would appeal to any visitor.

Chamberlain said, “Linking and communicating outside our area” will bring new visitors that will benefit the community by boosting economic vitality. Whether commercial, manufacturing, retail, light industry or services, the Chamber “is in business for business.”
