Varsity boys baseball wins two recent games

The Cardinal varsity boys’ baseball team has racked up two recent wins.

The boys traveled to Fillmore last week and came away with a 6-1 victory. The Cards had nine hits and only one error. The Flashes had eight hits and two errors.

Anthony Jimenez was the winning pitcher, with Alex Rios and Ryan Montelongo coming in for the final two innings. Top hitters for Santa Paula: Ryan Montelongo 3-3, 2 singles, 3B, 2 RBI’s, 2 runs scored; Ramiro Avila 2-3, 2 singles, 2 runs scored; Brian Hinojosa 2-4, single, 2B, 1 RBI.

In another contest Santa Paula beat Villanova 5-2. The Cards had eight hits and only one error. The Wildcats recorded six hits and had two errors.

The winning pitcher was Ramiro Avila, with relief help from Tony Contreras. Top hitters: Ryan Montelongo 2-3, Single, 2B, Eddie Perez 1-3, Single, 2 RBI’s; Phillip Arellano 1-2, Single, 2 RBI’s.
