Fred Henry, Jr. Fred Henry, Jr., 67, of Santa Paula, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2001 at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was a 49-year county resident, coming from Ohio.Mr. Henry was born February 1, 1934 in Kentucky to Fred and Mary Henry. He was a Korean veteran stationed at Port Hueneme Construction Battalion serving in the U.S. Navy.Mr. Henry served on the Santa Paula Police Department for 23 years, retiring as Sergeant of Detectives in 1983. He was very active with the Santa Paula Little League for 13 years, beginning in the ?60s. In 1970 Mr. Henry helped start the Youth Football program in Santa Paula.He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. Mr. Henry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn; son, Robert Henry of Apple Valley; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Anita Henry of Fillmore, and Fred Henry III and wife Alana of Bakersfield; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and James Brown of Santa Paula; grandchildren, Dylan and Jacob Henry, Brian and Amber Reed, and Shelby Henry; great-grandson Taylor; 10 brothers and sisters; and many wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary Henry.Graveside services were held October 11 at Santa Paula Cemetery, with the Rev. Lynn Thomas, Chaplain, Ventura County Fire Department and of Ojai Valley Wesleyan Church officiating.As an expression of love, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Peace Officer?s Association.Arrangements under the direction of Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary, Santa Paula.Florence M. RichardsonFlorence M. Richardson, a member of the Santa Paula pioneer Richardson family, passed away October 10, 2001 in Santa Paula after a brief illness. Born September 10, 1911 in Des Moines, Iowa, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis B. Richardson, who died in 1976.An active member of the Santa Paula First United Methodist Church for 70 years, she sang in the choir and worked on many volunteer projects through the church. Florence was a member of P.E.O. for 52 years and served as president from 1957 through 1959. Retired from United Water Company in 1975, she also worked for the Boy Scouts of America and the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce.Florence loved and lived for her family. While raising her children, she particularly enjoyed traveling and camping with children, family and friends. She had just celebrated her 90th birthday with every family member and many friends present, the weeklong event a tribute to her loving support of family.She is survived by her four children, Don Richardson of Bonsall, Jim Richardson of Simi Valley, Karen Rooney of Powell Butte, Oregon, and Cynthia Churchill of Pismo Beach. Florence leaves 12 grandchildren, Kirk Richardson, Lisa Shea, Dawnielle Richardson, Kristen Allen, Michelle Warford, Pamela Rooney, Erik Davison, Heather Fitzgerald, Brent Richardson, Milane Acevedo, Elizabeth Kiener, and Robert Richardson; and great grandchildren, Kelley Richardson, Michael Richardson, Amy Shea, Stacey Shea, Richard Shea, Brett Allen, Matthew Allen, Hailey Warford, Reina Davison, Jay Davison, Mathew Richardson, Julia Richardson, Cody Acevedo, Blake Kiener, and Catherine Kiener.Memorial service will be held Monday, October 15 at 12:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Santa Paula.Arrangements are under the direction of Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, Santa Paula.Ernesto ?Ernie? Ernesto ?Ernie? J. Alamillo, age 24, stationed at Travis Air Force Base, passed away October 7, 2001 in Fairfield, California. He was born June 24, 1977 in Ventura, and was a lifelong Santa Paula resident.Ernie had just finished tech school in Mississippi and was assigned to Travis Air Force Base. He loved working on hot rods, and enjoyed being in the military.He is survived by his mother, Rebecca Jean Alamillo of Santa Paula; his father, Jose Juan Alamillo of Ventura; grandparents, Ernesto and Ruperta Alamillo of Santa Paula; brothers, John Alamillo and Sergio Fuentes, both of Santa Paula; godmother Diane Alamillo; aunts, Debbie, Laura and Audrey, ?the Gullas Sisters? and numerous aunts and uncles.Rosary will be on Friday, October 12 at 7 p.m. at Skillin-Carroll Chapel, Santa Paula. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 13 at 10 a.m. at the Skillin-Carroll Chapel, with an Air Force chaplain officiating. Phillips, 94, of Santa Paula, passed away Monday, October 8, 2001 at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was a 56-year county resident, coming from Oklahoma in 1945.Mrs. Phillips was born September 22, 1907 in Oswalt, Oklahoma to James and Willie Hembree. She was employed by the Limoneira Packing House for 27 years.Mrs. Phillips loved flowers, gardening, and was an ?expert? dominos ?42? player. The most important things in her life were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was able to remember all of their birthdates.Mrs. Phillips is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lou and Allen Fields of Santa Paula, and Shirley and Raymond Christensen of Wilkeson, Washington; grandchildren, Sharyn Newby, James ?Phil? Cunningham, Allen ?Keith? Fields, Rick Fowler, Michael Fowler, Cynthia Mercado, Larry Higginbotham, Roger Higginbotham, Teresa Moore and Jeffrey Higginbotham; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Phillips, and daughter, Betty Fowler Buttram.Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary. Graveside services will be Friday, October 12 at 2 p.m. at Santa Paula Cemetery, with the Reverend Ken Bevel of Life Way Baptist Church officiating.Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary, Santa Paula.
