City Council recognizes ‘Have a Heart for Kids Month’

By Peggy Kelly Santa Paula TimesThe City Council formally recognized February as “Have a Heart for Kids Month” and lauded the efforts of the organization in providing services for children countywide, including those in Santa Paula.Vice Mayor Gabino Aguirre presented the “Have a Heart for Kids Month” proclamation to Sara O’Conlon of the Child Development Resources of Ventura County. The presentation of the proclamation occurred during the Feb. 3rd City Council meeting.Accompanying O’Conlon to the meeting was Child Development Resources Executive Director Julie Irving, a resident of Santa Paula.“I’m in the business of working with children and recognize that the future of our community,” is dependent on the next generation of leaders, said Aguirre, a high school principal. “It’s laudable to see Ms. O’Conlon and Ms. Irving do such a fine job in the community.”Child Development Resources of Ventura County was founded in 1980 and has “been providing quality care and service” to children and their families ever since, noted Aguirre.
Aguirre said that over 11,000 Ventura County children receive an array of services through Child Development Resources of Ventura County, and there is a waiting list of more than 1,400 families waiting to enter the program.Child Development Resources employs about 350 people and has 19 locations throughout Ventura County.“Child Development Resources forms partnerships with parents and the communities they serve,” for the future of all children, noted Aguirre.“On behalf of Child Development Resources, I want to thank the City of Santa Paula and the community for recognizing Child Development Resources and the children and families it serves,” said O’Conlon.
