Swimmers do well against Villanova

The Cardinal swim team made a good showing against Villanova Prep this week, opening the swim season. The boy’s varsity had 55 points to the Wildcats 35. Dante Friends came in first place in the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter backstroke. Brett Cowan had first place wins in the 10-meter breaststroke and the 100-meter butterfly. The JV boys had eight points to Villanova’s 29.The girl’s varsity also did well with 64 points to 26 for the Wildcats. Kisha Amey had first place finishes in the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter freestyle. Claire Powers took first in the 100-meter backstroke. Gretta Strautman came in first in the 100-meter breaststroke. Yolanda Ortega had a first in the 200-meter freestyle and Desiree Quioz took first place honors in the 500-meter freestyle.The Cardinal JV girls also came out on top with 54 points to 25 for Villanova. Meghan Brandon swam to a win in the 100-meter freestyle.
