Senior softball team wins their first game

The Santa Paula Lemons won their first game last week in the Gold Coast Senior Slow-Pitch League. The Lemons won 18-17, after losing six straight. Tony Vasquez led the team, hitting 4-for-5 with two doubles. Playing second base he made several stops at a double play from shortstop Jim McCoy. McCoy went 4-for-6, as did Bob Berg and Gus Avila. Bob Russell was 4-for-5 and Allen Erickson went 3-for-4.The visitors were short a player, so umpire John Bravo substituted for them. He hit 3-for-4, bouncing one off the left field fence.
