Another Little League season starts up

The Santa Paula Little League has started another season of exciting baseball action. Ceremonies were held Friday evening, marking the opening of the season, which is dedicated this year to the memory of Samuel Reeves, who died tragically last year. His uncle, Jim Reeves threw out the first pitch to Hugo Guevara of the Junior Division Devil Rays.Members of the Korean War Veterans Association of Ventura County, Chapter 56, presented the colors. 7-year-old Madison Arellano Bridges, the granddaughter of Korean War veteran Rudy Arellano, sang the National Anthem.The Little League Pledge was recited by Anthony Araiza of the Minor “B” Dodgers, Justin Barron of the Minor “A” Reds and Christian Reyes of the Major Pirates.New League President Tony Mata introduced board members. Dolores Gomez won the Volunteer of the Year award. She handles the annual candy sale fundraiser.
The first games of the season started up this week at Harding Park.
