Girls varsity bows to Lady Rangers

The Santa Paula High varsity softball team hosted the Nordhoff Rangers this week but sent the Rangers home with a 6-3 win. Nordhoff took an early lead, going ahead 3-0 going into the third inning. That’s when Janice Alamillo slammed a three-run home run to tie the game. That turned out to be the only runs for the Cards. Nordhoff scored again in the fifth and sixth innings to seal the win.The varsity plays at Malibu today a 3:30 p.m.The JV girls had a better time of it, beating Nordhoff 8-5.Jaclyn Kohr was on the mound for Santa Paula. She struck out five, walked one and allowed 11 hits. One of the highlights of the game was a double play by Kohr to Nicole Sliger.
Shaylene Jimenez had a double and two RBIs. Kohr also recorded a pair of RBIs.The JV squad hosts Malibu today at 3:30 p.m.
