    Heritage Valley Heroes bring home medals

    Heroes proudly wear silver medals

    The co-ed basketball team and coaches from Heritage Valley ARC traveled to UC Santa Barbara earlier this month for a day of tough competition. Teams came to the tournament from Antelope Valley, Oxnard, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clarita, Tri-Valley, Ventura and Santa Paula.This was the first official tournament for “The Heritage Valley Heroes.” After a day of hard and fast playing the teams lined up for closing ceremonies and awards. The Heritage Valley Heroes came home with second place silver medals.The Mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports for children eight years of age and older as well as adults with mental retardation or other similar developmental disabilities.
