Seeing a problem and tackling it with great skill and patience led the selection of a Santa Paulan for the Chamber of Commerce Member of the Month award during the January Good Morning Santa Paula! The monthly chamber meeting was held at Logsdon’s at the Airport. Chamber of Commerce President Jim McCoy presented the award for the outstanding member, noting that after Anne Davis, an employee of D.W. Burhoe Construction of Santa Paula, joined the chamber board of directors she took it upon herself to tackle the vital task of organizing the chamber’s computer files.“Her efforts really helped the chamber overall,” noted McCoy, and through her hard work solving the computer problems, Davis proved herself a “tremendous asset to the Chamber of Commerce.”Computers have become almost every businesses’ silent - albeit at times frustrating - partner. McCoy said Davis, on her own initiative, decided that the chamber’s computer files needed organization to better serve the business organization’s membership.Davis has been active in other aspects of the Chamber of Commerce and recently chaired the Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year selection committee, no easy task considering all the outstanding nominations. The Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce has five standing committees, administration, government affairs, membership, business development and education.
Annual chamber events - aside from the gala Citizen and Business of the Year gala - include the Joe Nesbitt Community Award, July 4th Community Celebration and annual Golf Tournament.Without the hard work of boardmembers like Davis, said McCoy, such chamber activities would not be possible, and her reorganization of the chamber’s extensive computer data - especially for the new millennium - is essential for continued chamber operations and expansion.“I’m speechless,” said the petite Davis when presented the award as Chamber Member of the Month.“Anne is a tremendous asset to the Chamber of Commerce, one of the best,” noted McCoy. “And she sure knows those computers!”
