By Peggy KellySanta Paula TimesThe City Council will meet in two sessions: the first on Saturday will be a special team building workshop to be held at 9 a.m. at City Hall Council Chambers. The council will take a break from the Saturday session at 11 a.m. to oversee the ribbon-cutting dedication of Fire Station 2 – located just west of the Community Center - and then return to the council chambers for some interpersonal relation discussions. The council will also have a special meeting on Monday, February 28; again at City Hall Council Chambers, with only a few items on the agenda. The council will first meet at 5:30 p.m. and then adjourn to a closed session to discuss several issues, including Yale Street property negotiations and liability claims, among others. The council will return to open session at 6:30 p.m. The open session will be televised live on Adelphia Cable channel 10 and replayed at a later date.
During the Consent Calendar portion of the meeting the council will consider an additional $10,000 in funding to complete the Green Street Alley improvement project to turn the area into a paseo. The funding will come from Harvard Boulevard improvement project monies.Flood damage recovery efforts will be discussed, specifically council direction to staff on the use of the city’s Washington, D.C.-based lobbyist in helping secure federal financial support to help cover storm-related damage costs. The council will also discuss a revision of personnel rules and regulations, as well as the possible adoption of revised guidelines governing employer-employee relations. The council will hear the promotional procedures of other cities and, if needed, provide staff with further direction on the issue. The council will also review the proposed by-laws and legislative agenda of the Ventura Council of Governments, the regional board that has considered dissolving over recent years.
