Limoneira Fresh in Santa Paula will host free “Spring Spectacular” planting, growing and mulching workshops on Saturday, April 23.

Limoneira Fresh in Santa Paula will host free “Spring Spectacular” planting, growing and mulching workshops on Saturday, April 23. Planting experts from Agromin and local growers including Limoneira Company will share tips for successful spring vegetable and flower planting, plus provide directions on how to apply organic mulch in your landscaping and garden. “Spring is the time to plant vegetables, summer bedding plants and citrus,” says Brian Critchley, Agromin’s planting and mulching “answer man.” “It’s also a good time to start mulching your landscape so you can receive the benefits of natural fertilizer for use throughout the spring and summer months. Using mulch also cuts down on water use, even when the weather is hot and dry.” Ivan Langston , owner of Santa Paula’s Another Roadside Attraction nursery and garden shop, will be on hand to discuss potting techniques and the proper care of cactus and water plants.Customers purchasing $15 or more of Limoneira Fresh products on April 23 will receive a vegetable seedling courtesy of Do Right’s in Santa Paula while supplies last. “We want to get everyone off to a fun start to the planting season,” says Sarah Skeels, manager of Limoneira Fresh. “The Limoneira ranches maintain thousands of acres of planted fruit trees and vegetables. These planting workshops allow Limoneira and other local planting experts the opportunity to share some of our planting experience with the community.”
Workshops will take place from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Limoneira Fresh is in the Limoneira Mercantile, 55 Hallock Dr. (Hallock Dr. & Highway 126).For more information, go to www.limoneirafresh.com.
