Entries are now being taken for the 2005 Santa Paula Citrus Parade.

Entries are now being taken for the 2005 Santa Paula Citrus Parade. July 16 will be the parade kick off celebration in Santa Paula. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and will be longer than ever. We are going from 7th Street to the Main Street and Harvard intersection on the east end of town. Directions for the parade lineup are on the back of the entry forms. The theme for this year’s parade will be “America’s Citrus Capitol On Parade” and everyone is invited to participate. You can make a float, join a group and enter the parade, join a church group. Car clubs are encouraged, as well as motorcycle groups, horse lovers, too. Do you work for a business that may want to participate (you never will know unless you ask)? Marching bands and drill teams are all welcome, decorate a wagon, dress up the kids and take pictures they will look back and remember (you can laugh), or just take a stroll through. Or you can chose to participate by cheering on the people who are in the parade by sitting on the beautiful sidewalks of downtown Santa Paula.Entry forms can be picked up at these fine locations: Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce, Carrows Restaurant, Main Street Café, Santa Paula Times and the Santa Paula Community Center. Entries that are received after July 10,2005 may not be eligible for judging, so get those entries in FAST.There will be first and second place trophies in all categories and a Sweepstakes trophy up for the best parade entry using the parade theme. If you are interested in a car show and would like to show off that great car of yours, please enter the “2nd Annual Citrus Festival Car Show.” The car show will be held between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., with check-in starting at 8 a.m. Head to the Festival show grounds; the car show will be on one of the baseball fields and will feature automobiles from classics to race cars. If you are interested in helping to make this one of the best parades ever, donations can be mailed to: Kiwanis, 500 W. Santa Maria St., Space #32, Santa Paula, CA 93060.For any questions about either the parade or the car show, please call Dan or Casey Salas, 525-2788 and leave a message.
