Both authors signed the 1935 “Mexican Odyssey” a tour of urban and rural Mexico featuring 70 block prints encased in the original dust jacket.A very rare book up for Silent Auction is “Aristotle’s Works: Containing Directions for Midwives and Counsel and Advice for Childbearing Women” printed for London booksellers in 1860.In all more than a dozen collectible books will be featured in the Silent Auction. But even away from the Silent Auction the Fall Book Sale is chock full of treasures with books carefully separated into an array of categories ranging from mystery and true crime to biography to history to self-help. Science, computer technology, politics, theater, literature, humor...the Fall Book Sale has them all! There are plenty of books for kids as well as book collections, records, videos, magazines and music, all neatly arranged for easy shopping. All proceeds from the Friends of Blanchard Community Library book sales - two are held each year - go to BCL, which has benefited from the generosity of Friends for decades. The donations of Friends have provided the new book drop outside the library, purchased library carts and updated other library equipment. The Friends work year round readying for the sales, spending one day a week sorting and categorizing donated books as well as those culled from library shelves.
