He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Joy; his children, Debbie of Montgomery, Texas, Joe and wife Kris of Montgomery, Texas, Mike and wife Trinka of Bakersfield, and Kerie of Santa Paula; sister Jan Toston and brothers Hansel, Jerry and Larry; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Otto was preceded in passing by his mother and father, Flossie and Goley Reynolds, and twin brother Roscoe.Otto will be loved, cherished and deeply missed in the hearts of his family and friends forever.Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Skillin-Carroll Mortuary. Salvatore Giovati
Salvatore Giovati passed away peacefully on August 22, 2006 at his home in Manhattan Beach. He was 90.The son of Italian immigrant parents, he went to work at an early age in Brooklyn, New York.Sal was a seven-year veteran of the U.S. Army. He was first stationed in Hawaii, and finished his stint several months before Pearl Harbor was bombed. He returned to New York in the spring of 1941, where he met and married his wife, Maria.After December 7, 1941, Sal reenlisted. He was sent to Europe and served at the Battle of the Bulge. He was also stationed in Southern California.Sal fell in love with California, and returned to live there with his wife Maria after the war was over. They had three children. He worked as a postal carrier in Manhattan Beach until he retired.His recent death was anticipated and peaceful. He will be missed by both family and friends, who cherished his sense of humor and endurance.Sal’s constant hope in his final years was to be reunited with his beloved Maria, who had preceded him in death 20 years earlier. He is survived by daughter Teresa Giovati Archer (husband Bruce) of Santa Paula, son John (wife Isabel) of Inglewood, and son Robert (wife Elizabeth) of Citrus Heights. He also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren.Sal will be buried with full military honors on September 2 at Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City. A funeral mass will be held at American Martyrs Church in Manhattan Beach on September 2 at 11 a.m., followed by a reception at the church.Otto ReynoldsIt’s with great sorrow that the family of Otto Reynolds, 72, of Santa Paula, announces his passing on August 30, 2006, at his home surrounded by his family and friends.Otto was born October 17, 1934 in Ringling, Oklahoma. He came to Santa Paula with his parents in 1941. He attended Mupu School and Santa Paula High School. In 1954 he was employed by Ojai Oil Company, where he worked until his retirement in 2005.Otto belonged to the Upper Ojai Search and Rescue for over 45 years. He loved the great outdoors, and spent most of his time there, working, hunting, fishing and barbequing.
