Ventura College Dance Department and the Ventura College Opera and Musical Theatre (VCOMT) are proud to present MASS TRANSIT as their combined fall show.
Ventura College Dance Department and the Ventura College Opera and Musical Theatre (VCOMT) are proud to present MASS TRANSIT as their combined fall show. MASS TRANSIT is at the Ventura College Theatre December 8-10. The Friday and Saturday night shows are at 8:00 p.m., and the Sunday matinee is at 2:30 p.m. Santa Paula residents Laura Dodson, April Garcia, Michelle Iniguez, and Lindsay Shield will perform with the troupe.MASS TRANSIT follows a young American girl who decides to leave the comforting shelter of her home to discover the world. She chooses to travel abroad to find herself and immediately is overwhelmed by the speed of the fast-paced, real world. Along her journey she experiences culture, love and loss, all while finally getting a chance to see the world. The show offers a treasure trove of dance pieces from a full range of genres. Everything, including ballet, modern dance, jazz, interpretive, hip hop, and ballroom dancing will be showcased in this collaborative production.This original performance is the artistic creation of Cathy Jean Butter, choreographer and director of the dance program, in conjunction with independent choreographic assistance from several senior VC dance students. The musical accompaniment is directed by Linda Ottsen and performed by the VCOMT, with special guest artists Loren Evans, Tamara Sue and the Santa Paula High School Marching Band!Ventura College Dance students hale from across the west county.
