JV and varsity girls miss on first time out

The Lady Cardinal JV basketball teams got to try out their skills this week against the visiting Hueneme High Vikings.
Hueneme beat the Santa Paula JV 38-18. The Cardinal varsity lost 40-25.Scoring for the Lady Card JV were: Mayra Mendez, 4; Kathleen Salas, 4; Lindsey Lippert, 3; Jennifer Toledo, 2, Ana Garcia, 2; Kassandra Espinoza, 2, Tylynn Sliger, 1.The varsity girls took charge early in the game, leading the Vikings 4-0 for much of the first period. By the end of the period Hueneme had caught up and took a 5-4 lead. Play was pretty much equal in the second quarter, with the Vikings holding an 18-13 edge at the half break.Hueneme came on stronger for the next two periods, wearing down the Lady Cards, playing with only a total of seven players.
