By Becky SmithSanta Paula High SchoolSix students from the Future Farmers of America (FFA) program at Santa Paula High School attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, which ran October 24 through 27. Over 50,000 FFA members from all across the nation attended the conference.
The convention consisted of several sessions, with speeches by national officers, and unforgettable guest motivational speakers. While we were there, we toured hundreds of exhibits, attended leadership workshops, and shopped at many different agricultural booths. In Indianapolis, we took a tour of the Indianapolis Raceway and visited the “home of FFA,” the National FFA Center. Among the exhibits at the National FFA Center is a timeline of FFA history, with photographs of all past national FFA officers since 1928, and biographies of all the current national officers. While at the convention, we saw the new 2007-2008 National Officers sworn into office.Santa Paula FFA is very grateful for the experience in attending the 79th National FFA Convention. We have all learned so much, met so many people from all over the country, experienced new things, and, most of all, had the time of our lives that we will never forget. Santa Paula FFA would like to thank the Santa Paula High School administration and school board.
