Louise was raised on a ranch west of Santa Paula. She attended Stanford University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1944.In 1946 she married John Kennedy. The family moved from the Santa Paula area to Northern California in 1948. They lived in Menlo Park until 1958, when they moved to Palos Verdes Estates, CA, where Louise resided until her death.Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years and her brother, John Kelly Thille. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Kennedy, Jeanne Herrera (husband Michael), and Carol Kennedy; and her sons, Robert Kennedy (wife Carol and son Nick), Thomas Kennedy, and David Kennedy.The funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30 at St. Lawrence Martyr Church in Torrance, CA. Will was born to Darius and Daisy Powell in Subiaco, Arkansas August 22, 1931, but grew up in Ventura County. He graduated from Santa Paula High School, served in the U.S. ARMY in Korea, was a lifetime member of the VFW and Elks club, but mostly was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend. Will loved Merle Haggard, playing poker with his friends, loved his family and of course his dog “sessy”. Will was preceded in death by his wife Melva, brother James and sister Mary Mosley. He now leaves behind his daughter Wilma Powell, son Keith Powell (wife Vicky), brother Paul of West Virginia and dearest friend Eleanor Gallager. The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday July 31, 2008 in the Chapel at Charles Carroll Funeral Home 15 Teloma Dr. Ventura, CA 93003. JoAnn Yarbrough Maddox
JoAnn Yarbrough Maddox passed away peacefully July 26, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 21, 1953 in Santa Maria to Reverend Willard and Exa Yarbrough.With her family JoAnn moved to Limoneira Ranch in 1957, living there until 1963. After a year in El Rio the family moved back to Santa Paula, where JoAnn attended Isbell and Santa Paula High School.JoAnn was the seventh of 10 children. She was a loyal, loving, caring person and would do anything for the ones she loved.JoAnn is preceded in death by her father Willard in 1969, older brothers Wayne in 2004 and Joe in 2005, and younger brother Tim in 2006. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 34 years, John Maddox; son Darren Maddox of Santa Paula; daughters Nancy (Michael) Marlow of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tracy (Will) Waggoner of Oregon, and Sarah Maddox of Santa Paula; grandchildren Rachelle Janolino, Ryan Janolino, Del Janolino, Forrest, Cody, Andrew, Sierra, Avery, Arwen, Jordan Arana, and Lillana Arana; great-granddaughter Kyla Faith; mother Exa Yarbrough; sisters Joyce Stockton, Lois (Lonnie) Henderson, and Carolyn Knowles; brothers Tom (Judy) Yarbrough, James (Jennifer) Yarbrough, and Frank Yarbrough; and numerous nieces and nephews.Services for JoAnn will be held on Friday, August 1at 6 p.m. at Chapel of Praise, 221 9th St., Santa Paula, with Dr. Sue Webb officiating.Isaac F. Mendoza Sr.Isaac “Ike” Mendoza Sr., 87, beloved father, grandpa and uncle, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on July 17, 2008. He was born in Santa Paula on August 26, 1920 to Alberto and Senida Mendoza.Isaac was proud to serve his country with the 179th Infantry Regiment. He saw service in France and Germany, and participated in the crossing of the Rhine River. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds that kept him in the hospital for 45 days. He received his honorable discharge on April 30, 1946 at Camp Beale, CA.He was married to his sweetheart, Beatrice Valdez, for 50 years. They had six children. He worked various jobs, which included Franklin’s Furniture Store and Firestone Tire Co. in Santa Paula, owned Valley Variety Store, and after 30 years of service retired from the USPS.He is preceded in death by his wife Beatrice, infant son Manuel, parents Alberto and Senida, sister Ascension “Mandy”, and brothers Sam, Frank, Joe, Edmund and Nick Mendoza.He is survived by his brother Ted; daughters Rosanna Mendoza and Barbara Rios; sons, Isaac Jr. (Lola), Robert, and Stevie (Yolanda) Mendoza; grandchildren, Lisa Sandoval (Joe), Elena Ortiz (Johnny), Angela Vasquez (Andy), Manuel Mendoza (Cindy), Anita Leyva (Gera), Rudy Rios (Mandy), Gena Rios, Anthony Medrano, Rocky Michel, Micaloo Michel, and Vanessa Mendoza; 20 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including his dear nieces Esther “Nanita” Cordero and Adrie Abdelkerim.The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to his caregivers, Maryann Robledo and Diane Burboa.Memorial services were held at Skillin-Carroll Mortuary on July 22, 2008.Louise Thille KennedyLouise Thille Kennedy was born September 5, 1922 to Nicholas and Elizabeth Thille in Santa Paula.
