For further information, please call (805) 208-6843.Richard “Dickie” EvangelistaBeloved husband, loving father to Jason and Craig and one great friend. Lost his battle with cancer and joined our Lord on November 28,2008. He died at home with his wife and several friends at his side. He was 66. We met in the early 70’s. He was handsome, fun and wild. By the time we married in the 80’s the hand of God had touched him and changed his life. He joined me in my life passion of feeding the homeless. Only Dickie did it his way. While we stood at the riverbanks top waiting for people to come to us, Dickie climbed into the river bottom to not just feed people but to join them in the meal. Dickie not only fed and ate with people he became a close friend to many people who had fallen on hard times. He was known as the man with “heart”. Dickie spent the last 22 years being of service to others. Whatever was asked of him he did. He served on the board of several mens recovery homes. He helped many men and women get off the streets and into a safe place to recover. Some made it, some did not. Dickie loved you either way. Once you met him you had a friend for life. He loved God, people, animals, me and especially his “boys”, Jason and Craig. He was my husband, kids dad, business partner, partner in recovery, our birthdays were just 4 days apart and even our names Vickie and Dickie were almost the same. I could only let go of his hand when God came and took it. To Dickie a life well lived. Forever in my heart. He leaves behind his wife Vickie, sons Jason and Craig, granddaughters Julie and Lisa and his love family John & Patty, Joe T, Mat & Tressa, Irma & Danny, Shawn & Cindy, Joy, Sam & Glen, Mary & Dick and Joyce. His mother, two sisters and three brothers and too many friends to name. We Love You!Services will be held on Friday December 5, 7:00 PM (viewing from 4:00-7:00) at Life Way Baptist Church, 673 W Santa Paula Street. Burial will be on Saturday December 6, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Santa Paula Pierce Brothers Cemetery. A reception will follow at 11:30 at Life Way Baptist Church.
