Martin Nunez Bautista, age 99, of Delano, passed away December 23, 2000 in Delano. He was born November 12, 1901 in Zacatecas, Mexico. He had previously been employed as a farm laborer.He is survived by his sons, Juan Bautista of San Jacinto, Jesus Bautista of Santa Paula, Martin Bautista, Jr. of Oxnard, Reuben Bautista of Upland, and Salvador Bautista of Hemet; daughters, Amelia Bautista of Delano, Amada Bautista of Mexico, and Dolores Garcia of Delano; 52 grandchildren, 112 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.Funeral mass will be held December 29 with Fr. Emerito Gomez presiding. Interment is at North Kern District Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Delano Mortuary.Donald Bustoz, Sr.Donald Bustoz, Sr., age 64, of Moorpark, died Wednesday, December 27, 2000 in a Torrance hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born August 26, 1936 in Bakersfield, and was a 52-year Ventura County resident.Donald had worked at Camarillo State Hospital for 28 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean conflict, and a member of American Legion Post #741, Camarillo. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Moorpark.Mr. Bustoz will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Ida Bustoz of Santa Paula, and Donald Jr. and Bertha Bustoz of Moorpark; daughters, Beverly Bustoz and Liz Martinez, both of Moorpark; sisters, Dorothy Gutierrez of Simi Valley, Isabell Gay of Oak Harbor, Washington, Margie Carrillo of Canoga Park, and Joann Cross of Topanga Canyon; and 12 grandchildren.Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary in Santa Paula. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 30 at 9 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Moorpark. Bruce Carlaw Gray
Bruce Carlaw Gray, age 69, of Santa Paula, passed away at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura December 24, 2000 following a short illness. He was born October 17, 1931 in Smithtown, New York, and was a 28 year county resident.Mr. Gray was employed for 37 years as an environmental control technician for Grumman Aerospace. He was an avid RV camper, having traveled through North America, and enjoyed spending time with his family and dirt bike riding in her earlier years with his sons.He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Loretta Gray; sons, David A. and wife Shirley Gray, and Brian F. Gray; grandchildren, Melanie and Samantha; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Alice Gray, and Lewis “Skip” and Maxine Gray; sister, Arletta Orsino; mother-in-law Evelyn Cox; brother-in-law Robert and wife Delores Carey; nephew, Michael Orsino; niece, Michelle D’Arienzo; niece, Katheryn Bauer; and nephews, Roy Gray, Patrick Carey and John Carey.Graveside services will be held Friday, December 29 at 1 p.m. at Santa Paula Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary, Santa Paula.Sal Michael GaetaSal Michael Gaeta, age 27, of Santa Paula, entered into Eternal Rest on December 24, 2000. Sal passed away at Simi Valley Hospital following injuries sustained in an auto accident.He was born April 5, 1973 in Santa Paula, attended local schools, and graduated in 1991 from Santa Paula High, where he was voted “Friendliest Senior.” Sal proudly served in the Army National Guard Reserve from 1990-1996. He was employed as tire center manager at Costco of Simi Valley, and was well liked and respected by his fellow employees.Sal is survived by his wife, Jessica, daughter Rebecca and stepson Tim of Santa Paula; daughters, Breanna of Oxnard and Desirae and Serena of Rialto; parents, Peter and Eleanor Gaeta; brothers, Jess and Reggie; sister Gina of Santa Paula; nephew, J. J. (J Rock) Gaeta; niece, Jasmyn (China Doll) Gaeta; grandmother, Josephine Duran; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.Sal was a life-long resident of Santa Paula and cherished the time spent with his daughters and family. He enjoyed cooking, listening to music, camping, and skydiving. His charm and warmth were evident in his personality.
