United Way of Ventura County, Interface Children Family Services, and First 5 Ventura County will host the 5th Annual 2-1-1 Anniversary Celebration on Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 at the Topa Tower Club located at 300 E. Esplanade Dr., 22nd Floor, in Oxnard.

The event is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The cost to attend is $40/per person and hosted refreshments will be served.

The Ventura County 2-1-1 program was the first in California to offer the service. 2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember, three-digit telephone number that enables the public to access vital social services in their communities. Operating 24-hours a day, seven days a week, 2-1-1 links callers to various health and human services such as food, shelter, financial assistance and mental health services. With just one call, local residents are conveniently connected to resources throughout the community and are assured confidentiality. Speaking to multi-lingual trained individuals, the callers are accessed to find appropriate services in their area. 2-1-1 also preserves the integrity of the 9-1-1 system thereby saving this vital resource for life and death emergencies.

The deadline to RSVP for the event is Friday, Feb.5. Please to go www.vcunitedway.org and click on “events.” For more information, please contact Susan Walker at (805) 485-6288, ext. 229 or at swalker@vcunitedway.org.
